“This time the show is in a completely new and exciting format full with ‘emotional atyachar’. It is a tale of love of nine girls and nine boys,” MTV General Manager Ashish Patil told reporters on the sets of the show here.
The second season will begin from March 7 replacing its longest running reality show, ‘MTV Roadies’, which is shifted to Sunday.
Contrary to the first season, in which there were only two boys, this season has equal representation for both the genders.
The nine boys and girls would woo the king and queen of ‘Splitsvilla’, the house where they are put up, will be revealed in the inaugural episode of the show.
“All the eighteen contestants vie for love and fame. The stakes are upped this time as the winning couple gets a chance to win Rs 10 lakh and host their own show on MTV,” Patil added.
The set for ‘Splitsvilla 2′ is set up at the lesser known ‘Casa Colvale’ resort, 20 kms away from here, on the banks of Colvale river.
Patil said the auditions for the second season were held nation-wide.
“We had 15,000-odd entries… We selected the finalists on the basis of their looks, personality and command over Hindi,” he said adding “we ensured that the contestants had different personalities,” he said. Nikhil Chinappa, MTV VJ, who will be hosting the show said it will be different and bigger this time.
“Each and every moment in the show is real. We constantly create the situation to have drama but not a single frame is fake,” Nalini Negi (Delhi), Ritika Naintam, Stutee Nag, Joanna Magee (Chandigarh) and Meenakshi Negi (Haryana).
The boys include Meherzaan Mazda, Bhav Aman Singh, Siddharth Bharadwaj (Mumbai), Varun Jhamb, Mohit Malhotra (Delhi), Suyash Kumar, Rahul Diwedi, Aman Sharma (Chandigarh) and Paramvirajsingh Baidwan (Punjab).
